Who should take this course?

To enroll in this course or the Junior Open  Water Diver course, you must be 10 years or older. You need adequate swimming skills, need to be in good physical health, and must sign a waiver. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

What will you learn?

The PADI Open Water course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development (online or independent study) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

What will you need?

As a PADI Open Water Diver you will need to purchase the knowledge development course materials, to include the PADI Open Water Diver Crew Pack and DVD. This non-refundable deposit will reserve your space in the course. The balance for the course is due before your scheduled course date.

Prior to scheduling your classroom session and water work you must have:

  • Completed a Padi Medical Form (click for pdf file)
    • Any ‘Yes‘ answers require a doctor’s signature
  • Completed an Assumption of Risk and Liability Release Form
  • Received and completed the five Knowledge Reviews (one for each chapter in the PADI Open Water Student Manual) of the course materials
  • Mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit (optional depending on water temperature) rated for scuba diving (purchased before course date). Please see our Gear Recommendations page for more information.

What will your schedule look like?

Schedules are subject to change, however, below is a sample:

  • Day 1: Classroom session – approximately 3 hours for knowledge development review, four quizzes, and one comprehensive final exam.
  • Day 2: Confined Water Day One – approximately 3 hours for the first of five-modules, confined water/pool sessions
  • Day 3: Water Day Two – approximately 4 hours for your last confined water sessions and your first two open water dives
  • Day 4: Water Day Three – approximately 4 hours for the final two open water dives, concluding the course

    • Knowledge development classroom session (max. 5:1 student-teacher ratio)
    • All five Confined Water Sessions, and all four Open Water Dives (to include related fees) in a shore diving setting. This is a perfect option for those who may get sea sick or are on a budget! If you are interested in going out on dive boats, please see the Boat Option below.

  2. Open Water Diver Boat Option: Contact for Pricing
    • Includes all student Knowledge Development materials (PADI crew-pak)
    • Knowledge development classroom session (max. 5:1 student-teacher ratio)
    • All five Confined Water Sessions, and all four Open Water Dives, two of which will include diving from a charter dive vessel (to include related fees).

    • Professional PADI instructor to guide you through your course

Please note: A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve space in dive classes. This will also cover the cost of your course materials and shipping. Course materials are non-returnable. The balance is due before your scheduled course date. Course price is subject to change. Due to variation in schedules, gear rental is not included.
